Keith Barron
Director

Having been born into an Army family (Dad was in the REME), I spent my younger life in several different places– Germany, such as Hanover, Fallingbostel, Berlin, Dortmund, Bielefeld, and Gutersloh, at times closer to home in Somerset and Yorkshire and then finally Aldershot, before moving to Birmingham in 1985. That’s when I started learning the family business here at Thomas Furber & Co., which was owned by my aunt and uncle, Audrey & Tom. In 1988 I gained the NAFD Diploma in Funeral Directing (DipFD) and later the BIE (British Institute of Embalmers). Nowadays I enjoy time with my kids and photography. Much has changed about this business over the years, except one thing– it’s all about the people.

David Yardley
Manager

Dave started off apprenticed and then fully qualified as a painter and decorator. His journey in the funeral industry began with the Co-Op in 1985, but four years later joined Furbers and has been with us ever since. He passed his funeral directors’ Diploma soon afterwards and remains a member of BIFD – the British Institute of Funeral Directors. Thirty two years of arranging and conducting funerals– sometimes for family and friends of his own– have given Dave a wealth of experience and he comments: “My aim is to give every family the care and attention to details for their loved ones”.

Away from work, Dave is a Villa fan and also loves snooker and golf.

Sue Yardley
Office Manager

Sue spent the first 20 years of her working life in accounting and still relies on that experience today. Her move into the funeral profession was around the turn of the century and she has been happy to be a part of the Furbers team since 2006.

“I get a great deal of satisfaction from what I do at Furbers. I am married to David, we have four children and five grandchildren between us!”

In her ‘spare time’ (she laughs), Sue supports her beloved West Bromwich Albion, listening to music and being outdoors in the garden or walking.
